Com base principalmente em entrevistas realizadas com os dois sócios, o presente caso de ensino em Administração narra o histórico da Mega Lanche’s, de André e de Jorge. O caso dá atenção a fatos particularmente relevantes para o empreendedorismo e a gestão de micro e pequenas empresas em um meio adverso, de baixo desenvolvimento socioeconômico. Evidencia, em especial, modos de se fazer muito com pouco, o valor das pequenas e impactantes inovações (ou inovações frugais) e como é possível um pequeno negócio, ao invés de empregar o planejamento, utilizar modos de se administrar e estratégias emergentes rumo ao sucesso. Na realidade abordada, a inovações são frequentemente ligadas a práticas de marketing e à geração de vantagem colaborativa com ações sociais feitas com intensa relação com a comunidade local. Apesar de sua importância, a administração pouco ou nada planejada, assim como tal modo de se praticar o marketing e se gerar vantagem colaborativa, é ainda amplamente negligenciada na pesquisa e no ensino brasileiros.
