A Associação Nacional de Estudos em Empreendedorismo e Gestão de Pequenas Empresas – ANEGEPE foi criada em fevereiro de 2011. Na primeira reunião da Diretoria, discutimos a possibilidade de criação imediata da Revista da ANEGEPE. Um pouco inseguros sobre as condições que teríamos para dar conta dessa iniciativa, analisamos até a possibilidade de adotar uma revista já existente para se tornar o periódico científico da ANEGEPE. Não chegamos a uma decisão nessa reunião.
Algum tempo depois, conversando com a Jane Mendes Ferreira, que já estava atuando como professora do Departamento de Administração Geral e Aplicada da UFPR, resolvemos apresentar uma proposta para a diretoria da ANEGEPE de criarmos a Revista de Empreendedorismo e Gestão de Pequenas Empresas – REGEPE. Na ocasião, me ofereci para atuar como seu primeiro editor. Sentia um forte desejo de me envolver com essa iniciativa que, para mim, era uma espécie de continuação dos esforços que tinha feito nos anos inicias do EGEPE: Maringá (2000); Londrina (2001); Brasília (2003) e Curitiba (2005). Minha proposta foi aceita e Jane assumiu o papel de Editora Adjunta. Aliás, sem o apoio da Jane essa revista teria demorado um pouco mais para surgir.
Em fins de março de 2014, dediquei algum tempo para levantar alguns dados sobre a REGEPE. Naquele momento, vinte e sete artigos haviam sido publicados por setenta e quatro autores. Essa produção teve 12.580 acessos, ou seja, mais de 570 acessos por mês ao longo de 22 meses.
